*Small slot for some thoughts and a song in Inside Worship Magazine
In my worshipping community, I continue to fervently look for opportunities to provide spaces for the voice and heart of the oppressed and destitute. By uttering their cries and partaking in their tears, the marginalized are less distant. By giving breath to their silent prayers, the fringe dwellers are woven back into our shared story and existence. As worship leaders and creatives we need songs, spoken word, pictures and images that resonate with a solidarity for the marginalized and voiceless while hollering the justice, reign, and mercy of God. Let the gathered voices of our worshipping communities rise and swell in plea and acclamation by coupling the cries of, "Kyrie Eleison!" and "Hallelujah, Christ is Lord!"
For the poor, the weary, the slaves, the captives, and the oppressed their voices echo still,
"Lord, hear our prayer and come swiftly to us."
Let us champion such an anthem as this. Let us sing such a song.
Let Justice Sing
by Erika Kobewka & Dan Wilt
We’ve been pressed on every side.
The poor, the weary, the hungry,
They cry out.
We cry out.
We've been pressed on every side.
The orphans, widows, and captives,
They cry out.
We cry out.
Let mercy walk,
Let justice sing,
Let freedom reign,
Let Your Kingdom reign.
{chorus}
Hallelujah, King forever!
Hallelujah, Christ our joy and strength!
